Composite Scales. Functions f1 and f2 as in Figure 1. Scale F A : F A (t; a i , b i , c i , i = 1, 2) = 3/8 f 1(t; a 1, b 1, c 1) + 5/8 f 2 (t; a 2, b 2, c 2). Scale F B : F B (t; a i , b i , c i , i = 1, 2) = 2/3 f 1(t; a 1, b 1, c 1) + 1/3 f 2 (t; a 2, b 2, c 2):. Hence, the scale F A is dominated by function f2 and scale F B is dominated by function f1. The graph shows normalized scores over time.
