Numerical determination of the upper boundary of the choice set in case B (α = 1, β≠1). For six different combinations of unit costs and size of the exponent β, the maximal possible number of measurement occasions, i.e. n d,max , for a single subject is identified under a budget constraint of 500 (arbitrary units). Squares, rhomboids, and triangles: (π s , π d , c q ) = (2, 10, 10), (11, 5.5, 5.5), and (20, 1, 1), respectively. Open and closed symbols: β = 0.50 and β = 1.50, respectively. The value of n d,max in each scenario is indicated by an enlarged symbol.
